Die Gonzaga und der Prager Hof Kaiser Rudolf II. Kunsthistorische Fragmente
The article investigates the connections between the north Italian courts of the Gonzagas and the court of Rudolf II. On example of such connections is the Prague sojourn of Duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga in 1595. Outside of this visit, the author also mentions a large number of details informing about the mutual contacts between the courts. These manifest themselves through the work of Italian artists in Prague and through Francesco Gonzaga's donorship to the main church in Pilsen in 1599. The end of the article muses about the possible connections between architecture of Prague Castle, the Duke's palace in Mantova and other buildings of northern Italy. The connecting link, according to the author, could be the imperial castle's master-builder Giovanni Maria Filippi.
