Jiří Kroha Reconsidered
The sudden end to the professional career of Jiří Kroha has thus far constituted a blank page in his life. In this study, the author draws on sources in the State Central Archive in Prague to reveal the ideological reasons that led in 1956 to the dissolution of the Master Atelier of National Artist Jiří Kroha (MANU) and his retreat into seclusion. From that time on, Kroha only worked as an occasional consultant for conservationists and studied the history of Soviet architecture.
