Z počátků křesťanství v českých zemích. Ikonografie románských tympanonů
Fourteen tympana with relief decoration have been preserved in Bohemia and Moravia from the 12th and 13th centuries. The study is an attempt at a new semantic interpretation of the tympana, based on the perception of their iconography as a set of visual-communicational signs comprehensible to the addressees. These did not include merely the educated higher class, but also a group of lay people who were addressed by the elementary semantic symbols rather than by the complex iconographic programmes.
