Truly Blank: The Monument to National Liberation and Interwar Modernism in Prague
The author of this article is trying to interpret the construction of the National Liberation Monument in Žižkov with respect to the relationship between modernism, which he refers to, and the official interwar culture. At the same time, he interprets this work in the context of expressing the idea of trust in "truth", which was shared by various modernist movements and which, moreover, gained a national character in Bohemia through the Hussite tradition. Besides, he observes the links between the given object and the Czech commemorative architecture.
