Vidění ženy ve slunci císařem Augustem
The author focuses on the iconography of the subject Emperor August's Vision of a Woman in the Sun, the pictorial manifestation of which is part of the Emmaus Cycle in Prague. She bases her interpretation on the literary work of Giovanni Marignola Cronica Boemorum, in which the vision comes up on several occasions. Aside from critical investigation of the mutual ties between Marignola's chronicle and the paintings in the cloister of the Emmaus Monastery, the author searches for reasons behind the painting of this subject, which include the possibility of presenting the emperor himself and even his reverence for the Virgin Mary.
