Braunovo bozzetto sv. Luitgardy

The author examines Braun's sketch from burnt clay for the sculpture Saint Luitgard, which is now in the museum in Oetz in Tyrol. This bozzetto, marked by the rudimentary cruelty of its shapes, refers to Brandl's draft sketch. In the article, the high quality of Braun's work is stressed in comparison with similar sculptures of Czech origin. The author further examines Braun's small gilded carving of St Luitgard from the National Gallery in Prague, which is a variation going to an older, at that time already surpassed, design. The end of the article deals with the colourfulness of the sculptures.
