Gotická svätyňa františkánskeho kostola Panny Márie v Bratislave

The article discusses the Franciscan church of the Virgin Mary in Bratislava, which was most likely founded by King Bela IV (1235-70). It was damaged during the Austro-Hungarian wars and re-built and ordained in 1297. The author draws several stylistic analogies between the high-quality structure - whose presbytery does not adhere to the strict requirements of the Mendicant order - especially with the architecture of German classic and post-classic gothic. She interprets the church in Bratislava as an example of the introduction of courtly art into established architecture. This phenomenon can also be seen in the chapel of Saint John, which was added to the northern side of the church in the 14th century.
