Jaromír Neumann
Matyáš Bernard Braun a Petr Brandl. Sousoší sv. Luitgardy a jeho geneze
The author aims to explain the genesis of Braun's sculpture of Saint Luitgard and to illuminate Brandl's role in the first works that Braun created after his arrival in the Czech Lands. Through a thorough discussion of the genesis of the sculpture of Saint Luitgard and an analysis of its style, Neumann attempts to prove the credibility of F.L. Ehement's report from 1771, which quotes Brandl as the creator of the model. Aside from the artist's paintings connected to the genesis of the sculpture, the article also contains reproductions of the works of J.K. Liška, with whom Brandl felt a creative connection.
