Jiří Kroupa
Dietrichsteinský palác v Brně a Ludwig Sebastian Kaltner
Jiřího Kroupa's article pays back a debt that research in the field of art history owes to the Dietrichstein Palace in Horní Rynek in Brno, whose development has not yet been adequately explained. On the basis of preserved text sources, the author presents the long building history of the palace, which began unfolding at the beginning of the 17th century. The reconstruction carried out in the second quarter of the 18th century and proposed by the Viennese builder Ludwig Sebastian Kaltner deserves particular attention. Kroupa's study encompasses methodological questions concerned with following the relationship between the architectural aspect and the artistic form as a means of visual communication in the history of architecture.
