Städtebau und nation-building. Zur urbanen Konstruktion nationaler Identität am Beispiel der Arbeit Jože Plečniks
in Prag und Ljubljana
After 1918, the work of the Slovene architect Jože Plečnik contributed significantly to the emerging national identities of the states that succeeded the Habsburg monarchy. The article looks at this process in the examples of Prague and Ljubljana. In doing so, it does not focus on the 'national styles', but rather on the symbolic depiction of national content in a specific town-planning framework.
