Viewed in a Cracked Mirror: Polish Art in Relation to Ideology in 1945-2000
The study deals with the situation of Polish art from the end of World War II to the present day in terms of its relationship to the official ideology. On the one hand, it shows how artists coped with the totalitarian regime, and on the other it highlights their relationship to the church, which underwent an elementary change after the political situation changed in 1989, when young artists took a strict stance on the Christian tradition.
