Kalvárie života a díla Vilíma Amorta
The sculptor Vilím Amort (1864-1913) is one of the half-forgotten artists of the turn of the century. The article describes Amort's life and work, with reference to the surviving diaries, which reflect his mental states. The artist's 'Calvary' unfolded from the time of the fateful victory in the first competition for the Hus monument in Prague in 1893. The design was sharply criticised and in the end the monument was built by Ladislav Šaloun.
