Steven A. Mansbach
Some "Western" Reflections on the Classical Modern Art from "Eastern" Europe
The author reflects upon the understanding of modernism in Europe that has predominated until today, in which the leading role of aesthetic creation was assigned to Western cultural centres. The discovery of the modern art of Eastern Europe leads Mansbach to formulate new critical methodologies and theoretical strategies, which would better reflect the general development of modern art. The author demands a re-examination of the thus far prevailing Western paradigm of classical modern art, its structural change and the overcoming of its current internal bias.
