The painter and 'rural scribe' Josef Ceregetti was one of the interesting figures active in the royal town of Chrudim between 1750 and 1850. The authors of the study focus on his literary work, the most famous of which is the Historia chrudimská (History of Chrudim). It is the oldest chronicle of the town of Chrudim, treating events from 888 to 1789.
